Nepali Community Unites for Cultural Center

Sydney, Australia — The three-day Sydney Spiritual Festival, held at Burwood Park, wrapped up on Sunday evening with resounding success, marking a major milestone in the Nepali community’s journey to establish the Greater Sydney Nepali Multicultural and Community Center (GSNMC) — a long-cherished dream now closer to reality.

From Friday through Sunday, the festival drew hundreds of attendees, including spiritual devotees, community leaders, and families, all united by a shared vision: building a “Mini Nepal” in Sydney to preserve and promote Nepali identity, culture, and spirituality.

🎶 A Celebration of Spirit and Culture The final day saw vibrant participation from noon until 8 p.m., featuring bhajan-kirtan, meditation and prayer sessions, spiritual discourses, cultural performances, and community dialogues. The evening aarti, joined by participants of all ages, added a deeply emotional and communal touch to the festivities.

Record-Breaking Support Sunday alone brought in over 200 lifetime membership registrations and donation commitments totaling approximately AUD 220,000. An additional AUD 1,400 was collected from donation boxes. Over the course of the festival, more than 500 lifetime memberships were secured, pushing the total number of GSNMC lifetime members past 1,000 — a landmark achievement for the organization. Total donation pledges have now exceeded AUD 1 million.

A Vision for All Generations Organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to donors and attendees, urging continued support from those unable to attend. “This is our common dream not only for today but for future generations,” they emphasized. “No one should be left behind in our journey to build a ‘Mini Nepal’ in Sydney.”

Beyond the Festival GSNMC reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing awareness and fundraising efforts, calling on all communities — Nepali and beyond — to join hands in realizing a center that celebrates multiculturalism while anchoring Nepali heritage in Australia.
